Q. What influenced your decision to become a wedding photographer?
A. Life is too short not to be living the dream. Gordon’s been photographing weddings for nearly 30 years. His passion for the industry and the community is apparent by his commitment to the PPOC for the past 20 years. His son Shaun stepped up to be part of the business 6 years ago with a natural knack for the technical side of things, let alone being a creative spirit. Stephanie joined this past year. While growing up with a camera in her bag where ever she went, she’s recently fallen in love with the art of interacting with people and portraying their emotions in a more professional manner. We are so grateful to be able to share one of the most important day’s in a couple’s life together and capture the energy of the day.

Q. Describe your wedding photography style:
A. Our style can be described a romantic and fun. The artistic professional approach we take incorporates lighting, style, and fun energy.

Q. Describe your perfect client:
A. The perfect client is a person/ couple who is friendly, willing to have fun and be open to trying new things. We get excited and feed off of other people’s vibes while we shoot, so the more relaxed and comfortable they are the smoother things go.

Q.What is your favourite part of the wedding day(s)?
A. Honestly it’s most often the ceremony and speeches. These are the moments where the love of the couple and of the family and friends are so apparent. We feed off of the emotions around us. We laugh and we cry along with them. The more open they are, the more creative we can be.

Q. Where are your favourite places to shoot in Edmonton?
A. We don’t really have a favourite location per se. We try to feature at least one new location for every session we shoot so that we have less repetition in our work and it also keeps us on our toes. We scout before every session based on what the customer is looking for. That in mind, we love to shoot in open fields, heavily wooded areas, and interesting architecture.

Q. Do you photograph weddings outside of the Edmonton area, and if so, where are you able to travel?
A. We are open to photographing weddings anywhere and love traveling. We have traveled to Mexico a couple times, the mountains a few times, and most recently photographed a wedding ceremony on a sand bar in the middle of the Squamish river.

Q. What makes you different from other wedding photographers?
A. I think what separates us form a lot of other wedding photographers is our group dynamic. We have three full-time photographers and will quite often all shoot at the same time. Gordon has been in the industry for 28 years, Shaun for 6 years, and Stephanie for 1 year. The Father/son/fiancee/couple dynamic paired with the experience, youth, and fresh eyes leads to situations and images that may not have normally occurred.

Q. If you were getting married (or if you were to do it all over again), who would you choose to photograph your wedding, and why?
A. Considering we (Shaun and Steph) are getting married next year…this is a popular question for us! We have chosen Alicia Price (www.aliciaprice.com)and Dana Pugh (www.shortandsweetphotography.ca) to photograph our wedding. We got engaged during a couples session by Red Leaf (www.redleafstudios.ca) and loved the images. They are amazing and captured our romantic and sweet side. Alicia and Dana are amazing children’s photographer’s in Okotoks AB and we are looking to them to capture our fun and funky sides.

Q. Do you photograph anything else other than weddings?
A. Although Weddings and couple sessions are our specialty, we do some children’s, maternity and family sessions as well. We have been thinking about jumping into the boudoir ring for awhile, so that may be in the future plans for us next year.
