Q. What influenced your decision to become a wedding photographer?
A. There were a lot of things pointing me in this direction and they started at a very early age. First of all photography seems to run in my family and I always enjoyed being in front of someone else’s lens, so it felt really natural when I did get behind one. I (Amanda) have always loved pretty things, little details, beautiful people, happy people…that’s what really drew me in. Especially to weddings, being that there never seems to be any shortage of pretty things and happy people. Tim (my husband and second shooter) is becoming more and more of a photographer every day, mostly because he loves to create. His ability to pre-visualize got him started on art, animation and photography.
Q. Describe your wedding photography style:
A. Oh gosh, this is always a fun one. I think that style is one of the hardest things to sum up in words because each picture holds a story of it’s own beyond anything that we could create. If I had to choose I would say that our style is fresh and fun with just a touch of sexy sophistication in there.
Q. Describe your perfect client:
A. Our perfect client is someone who trusts us completely and wants to have a great time shooting their wedding photos. We love couples who aren’t afraid to climb a tree, run through a field, strike a hot pose and laugh till it hurts.
Q. What is your favourite part of the wedding day(s)?
A. For me it is in the anticipation right before the bride walks down the aisle. If you ever want to see a man with his heart on his sleeve just steal a glance at a groom the moment before his bride walks down the aisle.
Q. Where are your favourite places to shoot in Edmonton?
A. Another tough one. We try not to get into a rut as far as locations go and love to try new ones, but we do have a few areas we like. Some of our favourites are the Edmonton Public Schools Museum downtown, the warehouse district off of 104 ave, anything from the high level bridge to the Whyte Ave and univserity area, the St. Albert Botanical Gardens and random fields surrounding the Edmonton area.
Q. Do you photograph weddings outside of the Edmonton area, and if so, where are you able to travel?
A. Most of our traveling so far has been within the province of Alberta with a little bit in BC. We are open to anything in western Canada and would like to start traveling internationally within the next two years.
Q. What makes you different from other wedding photographers?
A. I think our down to earth personalities and relationship are unique and put our clients at ease. Our experiences together mean a huge inventory of stories that we will often tell when something triggers a memory. People really like to see that what we do and talk about is real life, not a staged show.
Q. If you were getting married (or if you were to do it all over again), who would you choose to photograph your wedding, and why?
A. An inspired artist. Mostly because there’s nothing quite like seeing a light turn on in a person when they are creating something beautiful and unique.
Q. Do you photograph anything else other than weddings?
A. We are working hard on doing more fashion and beauty photography. We are also open to family sessions and will be adding maternity very soon.
